August 2013 #Root Me down ???
This morning August 19th some of you may have noticed www.root-me.org was down. This was due to the servers power supply which had to be changed. After some hours of downtime all the services should be back now. Please advise us if something still doesn’t work. Thank you for your patience.

The 2nd International Symposium on Grey-Hat Hacking - aka Grehack 2013 - will gather researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government to discuss new advances in research related to any area of computer and information security.

Code - decode page has also been revised to be more useful.

The challenge shell4, was a sort of duplicate and was thus replaced. Associated validations were removed ; thx for your comprehension

New skin
As you probably noticed, Root Me’s design has evolved. Main changes:
– A lighter UI , more readable
– Footer and forum redesign
– Responsive Design
We’re expecting your feedback in the forum 😉
New virtual machine
A new virtual machine is available for the CTF all the day : VulnVOIP.
A realist challenge using this VM is also there.

Wargame category modification
Wargame category was splitted into two sections:
– "App - script" where you will find the shell challenges
– "App - System" where you will find the binary, rbinary, hbinary challenges
Old URLs are redirected to the new one.
Web - Client category modification
Due to a reorganization, some challenges of the category "Web - Client" were deleted or renamed. Points and rank were recalculated accordingly and it is possible that some of you have "lost points".
