Stuck at the Banner Grabbing excercise.
nc challenge01.root-me.org 80 simply returns nothing. I am not completely aware of what I could have done different.
Any help?

Using nc to connect to the port will only establish a tcp connection. This is not specific to HTTP, and will probably not help you complete the challenge unless you are able to generate HTTP traffic.
I hope this is not too spoilery, but gives you some direction!  😄
