I found the text of the RFC in the metadata, but it seems like it has no bearing on the password to finish the level. Am I on the right track? Is this just a red herring?

No I mean I found the entire text of the RFC which describes the method by which I had just decoded that text.

Same here. Stuck at the same point.

If it’s a hint for you (wasn’t for me), the RFC in the picture is obsolete.

I’m in the same place and tried a lot of stuff,
the craziest thing I did was to check the length of each line of the comment tag, assigning 0’s and 1’s. This based on the fact that if you try to encode the RFC file you don’t get the same result than the one on the comment tag. (Nevermind this)
... it didn’t worked  🙂

Also been checking the other tags and doing nested decodifications, got nowhere :P

I’m new at this and would greatly appreciate a direction on how to analyze the .jpg. A program, or even a method just to get me started. I can’t see how anybody found that rfc in the image.

Hey um8ra,

Broadly, there’s a common way of embedding data into JPG files to support data like flash settings; have a look at the way the challenge’s subtitle is mis-spelt..

Now, if I could just work out what to do with that ’=’ hint...

All the best,

Spugs

I got passed the = hint (tx Th1b4ud, I was already looking at that but your hint made me look harder 🙂 ) and I now have a small text (NOT the RFC) with an url in it (to a famous website).
But there is NO flag in that text 🙁
I thought that more hidden data might have been dropped in the same way as it was done in the RFC text (but with a different encoding) so I adapted the script I used to get the new text out of the RFC but I now only get rubbish.
Am I looking too far and should I have found the flag in the hidden non-rfc text?
I do get some rubbish characters there but it is clearly readable maybe something went wrong here, but I found a few scripts and have been playing with them and every time I get the same output.

Someone please ......

Finally got it! It took me so long because I thought going in circles was the problem, when it’s actually the answer. Hope that’s not saying too much.

Hi everyone! I am stuck at the RFC. I read the ctf wu and wrote a python script, based on those I found, to get to the second step, but all I get is gibberish. I understand the ’=’ hint, but I can’t make it work. Anyone can give me a hint (not the ’=’, I understand that one, I think!)? You can message in private.

Im at the same spot tbh, I think I have decoded the message down to half the base if that makes any sense lol.
Ill try more tomorrow, but for now I’m actually completely stuck.

Seems like I’m stuck like most here with the message leading to the famous website surrounded with ’*’.
Tried to jump down the base but still wondering what to do it with.
Going back to the starting base doesn’t seem to be really helpful neither.

Following previous comments, I tried to "spin" the problem around to see if I didn’t miss any possible hidden combination and it doesn’t seem to take me anywhere near the flag.

I suppose I must be missing something obvious in the text, would it be possible to PM me a small lead?

Thank you in advance

EDIT: Nevermind I found it.
