I’m hoping someone can give me a push in the right direction. I don’t want to know the solution, just a little more help. I’ve read through both attachments included with this challenge and the readme file on the server. I’ve spent several hours pouring through external sources on the sudo command, and I’ve consulted the man pages for the sudo command. I’ve looked at all of the permissions for the files and folders and I understand that:

— EDIT —

I’ve removed the last portion of this post because with a slight tweak I’ve found the solution and so I don’t want to provide others with that much information. For anyone reading this know that there’s only a small portion of the US support file that is necessary to complete this challenge. I learned more than enough information about a lot of things I didn’t need to in my hours of study and research. Just in case you find yourself in my shoes, here’s some hints that might help you out:

  1. If you’re not using the sudo command you should be.
  2. Be sure you understand what commands are available to you and any associated paths when using the sudo command.
  3. If you choose to use the command, be sure you’re using absolute path references to any files you want to access (i.e. /folder/folder/file and/or folder/folder/*)

Beyond that I wish you luck!

Thanks a lot for this, those tree tips really helped out. I’d like to add, if you’re new to linux you should do some research on how file paths work and on how to move within the filesystem using the terminal, you should able of completing this with the above tips. Good luck everyone :)

Hi
I am in that direction but something is weird.
The sudo -l shows me an available command with a full path...
When I run the exact command the sudo says I do not have right to run that command...
I am probably missing something very obvious here...

Thanks for any tip

EDIT: The obvious thing is that I did not read properly the output of the sudo -l. Some other post about that challenge gave me the hint.

The rest is fairly obvious and documented in the pdf given.

Thanks

When it asks for password, try writing a user instead.
