I rooted the Lamp CTF5 and got the hashes from /etc/shadow, but the challenge page doesn’t accept the root hash.

Am I missing something? 😕

You have to submit the content of the /passwd file not /etc/shadow :)

For finishing the CTF itself, yes.

But to get the points for the challenge in the "Realistic - Root them" challenge I had to pass the password hash. It just didn’t want to accept it.

Though I finished the CTF and entered the validation immediately. I restarted it now and entered the hash before finishing the CTF and it got accepted. Maybe this was the problem after all.

i tried to login through putty using my root-me id password but it always says acess denied
