I’ve managed to retireve all the files from the image
but I can’t figure out the city name due to my weak French
So can I have any hint abou tht city name

You should find correct program for recovering, i tried many of them (in windows) but did not retrieved correctly files (like xE... .xxx) then try on linux!

Well, I will say I do agree it is not written in any format period in any of the files. It’s the tool you use to analyze the file itself. The tool is readily available via Kali and there is a windows variant. Think outside of the box. Also google search certain search queries that were told to you on the challenge page itself.

for the people struggling you can user any compressor or de-compressor to extract the data from the file, i just used 7zip to extract the files/folders

I was really struggling with this one .
Since it was one of the early challenges i thought it would have been easier.
My mistake was that i had extracted the image but not all files were present.

I seem to have hit a brickwall. I was able to extract the files, found a picture of a kidnapped cat with their demand. I feel like I need to know a bit more about the region to figure out who might have been interested.

Fun fact: most smartphones use to storing location of taken pictures.
