Cracking

Hey guys,
I am new to all this, so I wanted to ask how you go to those problems in general. I have no Clue what to do, HexEdit didn’t bring me any further.
If you have some good tutorials i didn’t find while researching, please let me know.

Do I need a UNIX / Linux for cracking ELF ?

there’s a free tutorial on gdb (based on linux) for ELF’s there :

look for Securitytube Gnu Debugger Expert it’s a 14part video tutorial and free...
