I’m having a hard time with this challenge.

I have read a lot about DNS zone transfer and watched a lot of youtube, and think I understand the basic about it - but I can’t figure out this challenge

I have tried stuff like :
host -t ns ch11.challenge01.root-me.org /did not work
host -t ns challenge01.root-me.org /did not work

host -t ns root-me.org /gave me some nameservers

root-me.org name server ns200.anycast.me.
root-me.org name server dns200.anycast.me.

/these ones did not return any information
host -l root-me.org ns200.anycast.me.
host -l root-me.org dns200.anycast.me.

I have also tried the ch11.challenge01.root-me.org server without getting any information.

Anyone who can help me ?

Remember that the DNS server is not listening on the standard port of 53, it is listening on 54011...

Thanks. But I haven’t figured out how to select which port to use. But I guess that’s a hit to me :)

I’m about to give up on this challenge.

I know I have to connect to port 54011 but I just can’t. Host command does not seem to have a port option, but the command ***** has. So I tried "********** -p 54011 and-a-lot-of-server-names" but did not find anything I could use,

Am I on the right track ?

Can anyone confirm if this challenge is still doable ? I am not able to connect using that port.

Well using ********* or ************* with port/domain configuration can’t pass it ... connection refused so yea i think this chall is just dead =/

It’s not, you just don’t know how the protocol works.

I solved the challenge not long ago, server still up & running. remember to connect to the right server and the right port.

Hey sorry to dig this up but is it possible to do the whole challenge on windows with just ******* ? I’ve been trying on it and i’m not sure if i really need ****** or if just ******* is enough

Search on google and you will see which tools to choose :)

help. someone can validate if the server is still up. Since I tried to do the transfer with various tools from port 54011 and I have not had results.
