App - System

I have created a binary that sets the uid of the cracked user and then spawn the shell (both sh and bash) and I cant change my permissions to the cracked user . What am i doing wrong ? payload -> overwriteToEip+system+exit+addresOfVariable

Edit1: I successfully spawn a shell but without the required privs
Edit2: Outside gdb there is a different environment :)
