Questions

So I just joined yesterday. I did a little programming years ago. I played around with the book "Hacking the art of exploitation" when I was younger, and that’s about the extent of my knowledge... Which is very spotty now.
I’ve played around with 3 challenges now, and have come to realize the easiest challenges are way too hard for me. is there a better place to start? I tried script, programming, and network and couldn’t even begin to solve them. (The programming one I at least understood what was needed just couldn’t make begin to make the program.)
Basically I’m asking, where should I begin? I’m way in over my head, and the technical sheets that it suggest reading I can’t understand all the jargon.
I’m extremely interested in this, but afraid it may be above my abilities. any suggestions?
