Stuck in basic_pentesting_1 : no session was created

Hi everyone !
Being a bit new to pentesting, I tried basic_pentest_1 as my first ctf. I found some exploits that I thought should be able to work, and tried them, but everytime I’m trying to exploit, msfconsole tells me that no session was created. I tried doing it in my vm, on windows, with and without vpn ... I can’t see why this happens.
Anyone has an idea on what might be happening ?

Thanks in advance !

If you are very certain that you have things set up correctly in parameters, when it comes to msf and committing the exploit... Few things that come to my mind, is:
Could you have a firewall blocking the inbound reverse shell or other connection? Such as in your router, or in your OS.

If not, could it be that your internet service provider has most ports closed for inbound connections?

Such as: I have a place I stay every now and then, where internet belongs to the deal.
There, their ISP has only few ports open, such as remote shells, ftp, vpns, and ports mainly used for browsing etc.
For other ports, like 4444 or 8xxx everything incoming is blocked by ISP firewall.

Hope you find a solution. I myself enjoy the environtment every now and then.. Having to use bind shells and be more creative.
